Happy Birthday to The Puffin!

Sophie the Puffin turned 3 last week and because we are super nerds with no life, we had to celebrate. It's too hot to turn on the oven in our little attic so no cake this year. But we took her to her favorite place in the world: the beach!
She is so happy!
One of my best friends in Phoenix sent me this beach towel with the big anchor on it. How cute! She knows me a littlr too well :)

And I found some pictures of our camping trip this summer that I thought I'd share:

Back to School and Back to Work

It may seem that I have fallen off the face of the earth, but life sometimes gets in the way. Rest assured, we are here and doing well. Really well in fact! Here’s a recap of the last few months:
  • Bobby was laid off from Nutter Electric – they’ve pulled completely out the state and laid off all Oregon employees.

  • I finished my 1st real rotation this summer. I spent 4 weeks at a Rite Aid in Lake Oswego, OR as an intern. I was terrified going in, but ended up loving it. My preceptor was awesome, the entire staff was amazing, and my saddest moment there was my last day because I miss working with them! I must admit that for the past year I was worried that I might have chosen the wrong career – but I have no doubts at all now. I LOVE being a pharmacy intern and will love being a pharmacist. It’s the perfect job for my OCD, bossiness, and love of customer service.

  • Annika, Cassidy, Mom & Dad all came up to Oregon for a visit. We spent a week at the beach in Neskowin which is a cute little town of 190 people. Unfortunately Bobby had to leave early because...

  • … he’s now a full-fledged electrician apprentice with a new job at a great electrical company! Bobby not only got into the apprenticeship program in Portland, but ranked #5 of all applicants. On top of that – they credited him for all his work and schooling in Phoenix which bumped him to a 7th period apprentice. That means a big pay increase (yay for less student loans!) and he will be able to test for his Journeyman’s license the same time I’m taking my Boards! By the way – if we fall off the face of the earth in 2013 for a couple months, that’s why. We’ll both be studying like mad!

  • Sophie the Puffin is still adorable. No news there, but she’s our only child so I have to mention her.

  • And my summer “break” is now over. I had remote school over the summer online, but I’m back in the classroom again and enjoying seeing all my friends. Last year was mainly foundational, like Med Chem, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, etc with a smattering of drugs. This year is all clinical and the real meat and potatoes of my education. So I’ll probably be more worked this year than last, but I’m still going to do work study in the tech office and get back into shape with hiking.

Back at the beach house "grandma" and "granddog" settke in for a nap
The backyard of the beach house was also the nibbling area for a doe and her 2 fawns. We didn't get a great picture, but we did get up close many times!

The closest we got to actually riding in a plane :)
Joysticks in hand, in the cockpit - yes. we are totally cool.
Cassidy makes a fine scuba diver, don't you think?
Trying to show off the jellies, but just looking silly

I’ll try to update more often, but don’t be surprised if it’s a lot of “I studied and Bobby worked” for the next few months!
