Autumn Updates

A lot has been going on in our lives so let’s do some updating:

(Don't worry, you can skip the updates and scroll down to Edamame video!)

• I updated in August that Bobby is now a Journeyman electrician, which we were very excited about. Unfortunately, the company he worked for couldn’t afford another Journeyman, and as the lowest man on the totem pole, he was laid off.
• But in happier news – Bobby got a new job! He spent a total of 1 (yes, that’s ONE) day unemployed thanks to his awesome work ethic and ability (with a little help from my job-searching skills). He’s now working for a small electrical company here in Hillsboro and has steady work doing remodels. What’s even nicer – he got a raise out of the deal and potential for a company truck in a few months. He likes the owner and employees a lot and it’s looking like a better opportunity than where he was before.
• In September I celebrated my 28th birthday and September also marked 11 years together with Bobby. I had a nice, low-key birthday with sushi and relaxation.
• Labor Day weekend my folks came to visit and we had a really good time together. Bobby and Dad ripped out my old nook table and put in a new one so it’s now usable! It’s so nice to finally have a place to sit and eat again! We also hung out in Portland, visited the beach, saw Multnomah Falls, and climbed up past the Larch Mt trail above Wahkeena Falls. Dad bought me hiking sticks for my birthday which have finally made it possible for me to hike again with my bad knee and hip.
• I have now been officially initiated into Phi Lambda Sigma (aka Pharmacy Leadership Society) and was elected as the new Secretary/Treasurer as well. Both are a great honor since membership is invite only and being selected in a leadership position in an organization of leaders is very gratifying. I also completed the Bylaws for PLS with a great team and look forward to working with the organizations on a few other projects this year.
• I’m now in my 5th rotation of the year which is dedicated to studying for the Boards. Lovely. And between studying I'm now applying for residencies and the fellowship. It's both exciting and absolutely terrifying. Cross your fingers for me!

Alright, now what you really came to the blog for: Edamame!

As before, I am a horrible cameraman and ask you to forgive the shoddy work. The cuteness still shines through and you can mute it to avoid my silly voice (I always sound a little more squeeky when talking to pups).

 

This is her first real walk and we were amazed how well she does on a leash. As long as she has Sophie to follow she walks like a champ.

More Edamame

I hear that more pictures of the Bean are needed! Yes, we have already have a ton of nicknames for Edamame: Eddie, Beans, Ed/Eds, The Little Bean, and of course, "NO!".

 

Bobby and I finally gave up on our beloved flip phones and upgraded to iPhones which I was impressed to find have great cameras! This has given us the opportunity for a lot of pictures of the puppy, but honestly, it's hard to get her in action.

So I humbly present the many faces of the sleeping Edamame:

Of course, she doesn't sleep all the time. Most of the time she's destroying anything she can get her teeth on. Or barking. Of howling. Or whining. Honestly, she's the noisiest puppy I've ever seen.

 

Today we went down to the Portland Farmer's Market today for produce (and OMG - Oregon has the most amazing farms), and afterwards we drove through Washington Park to see the colors. We walked the girls around the rose gardens and found that many were still blooming too.

We lived in Arizona too long - I forgot how beautiful seasons are!

Pupdates

I need to do an update blog on everything going on in our life, but I know the priority right now is puppy pictures! Bobby and I adopted another little corgi into our family.

Introducting: Edamame!

She looks like a mini-Sophie!

 Since Sophie the Puffin has always been, well, my dog, we decided it was high time that Bobby have a fur-ball of his own. And Sophie has been very lonely the past 2 years without Penny, my mother's dog, back in Phoenix.

Sophie hates her. Ok, she doesn't hate her. But she definitely doesn't like her. We know that will change, but will take more than 2 days obviously. I'm looking forward to uploading pictures of them playing together in the future (fingers crossed)!

Big disclaimer: I am a horrible camera man (camera-woman?). So the videos are shaky and not good quality, but I upload them in the hopes that Annika will finally leave me alone asking for puppy video. :)

Bobby was putting together my new nightstands for the bedroom and she decided that she would "help" him:

 

Next, her first meal with us. We fed her in the kitchen since Sophie gets fed in the living room.

And last, Eddy's favorite thing in the world (so far) - outside time! She loves the leaves from the huge sweet gum trees in the front, and luckily she doesn't mind the rain at all. I got a little video during a rare sunny moment yesterday.

 

 

October already?

Where has this year gone? October already and I can now decorate my new home for the first time. We're having fun with Halloween already!

 I added a few indoor decorations to the group and love having a mantle to decorate.

 

 My house in Phoenix did not have (nor did it need) a fireplace, but this little 80-year old home does. In fact, we just had the tree trimmed so once the weather gets cooler, we’re set for having fires all winter long. We’re especially set because I have some amazing friends here in Oregon. One friend, Nicolle, called me up out of the blue to offer me firewood from her grandfather’s house for free. I was out hiking that day and said I love it, but couldn’t be there. So what did she do? She drove it down to my place herself and stacked it up nicely in the back of my house. That’s only one of the many reasons this girl is awesome, but I’ll leave it at that I’ve very blessed to have some fantastic people in my life here in Oregon.

 

 

Another fantastic friend here in Oregon is Susan. Yesterday she popped by to help me decorate the windows based on a design I saw on a blog a few months ago. The theme this year at the F-G household? MONSTERS!

 

 

 

The designs are adapted from the blog so we can’t take too much credit for creativity, but they turned out just fantastic! Although I’m pretty talented at cutting paper (as those at Wells might remember), I’m rubbish as drawing. Susan did an amazing job sketching out the monsters from just one small picture and we spent the day cutting, gluing, and having a pretty good time. I'll try to take some pictures of them in the daylight as well as the whole house. The effect is especially spooky adorable seeing them all together on my little gingerbread house. :)
