What's up, Doc?

It's official. After many years of school (I'd prefer not to say how many), I have finally graduated and as of May 18th, I am officially Dr. Fondse! :)

The whole family came up for my graduation - too bad the weather didn't cooperate

In true Oregon fashion, it rained on our graduation. Which you wouldn't think is that big of a deal in OR.... but.... the graduation was outside. Yep. 2 hours in the pouring rain.

If you zoom in you can see a tiny Sarah. And rain drops. Many rain drops.

 In Oregon, you don't move an event for a silly little thing like rain. Nope. You give all the graduates plastic ponchos and bear through it together. At least the family got to have an umbrella and we graduates had a last bonding moment where we collectively agreed this was the strange as heck to be soaked to the bone for graduation.

Because there are so many graduate students in all the programs, the graduation day was essentially "Here's your diploma, now be on your way". Because of this, we have a separate event just for pharmacy the Thursday before graduation where they give out awards and we receive our hoods. As class president I was asked to give a speech, which Bobby assured me was not horrible. And I was both shocked and honored to receive the Deans Award for Excellence, one of the highest awards given by the School of Pharmacy. It was even more fun when they announced that the 2 poster awards this year were being given to the same group - Group 16 which happens to include yours truly....

It was a chaotic few days and somewhat anticlimactic now that it's all over. But it feel great to be done and I start my residency on July 1st with one of the best health systems in the state. Now back to the books - I may have graduated, but now I have to pass the boards! Wish me luck.

Puppy Love

Per Annika, I must post more pictures because Edamame remains a tiny pup due to my lack of pictures (she's HUGE now and 26 pounds already at 8 months old). And I know Sunni needs a puppy fix every now and then :)

The Beanstalk

Edamame is growing like a weed!

We took her to her 1st corgi meet up late last year and although timid, she seemed to like the other corgs.

And she continued to grow...

Sophie The Puffin still loves the park

And as responsible pet-owners we of course got Edamame fixed, which resulted in an adorable cone-of-shame.

She ran into literally everything in her satellite

Bobby decided to use her as a pen holder and she still looks at him with adoration...

I cannot emphasize enough how hard it is to discipline this face



 

Christmas in February

Better late than never? Christmas at the F-G house!

I had a lot of fun decorated this year. I was going for Home & Garden's cute in competition with my neighbor who put up 10,000 lights this year and had them blinking to Christmas "music". He won the neighbor competition for volume, but I think I would get a nomination for class. :)

Edamame loved my newest Christmas Moose (Colonel Mustard)

Every Christmas since our 1st year together 11 years ago Bobby and I exchange a moose. This year he bought me mine in advance - a 6-foot tall moose from Costco that I fell in love with. They only come out for Christmas, but Eddie would love to have him year-round!

Quick updates - I have applied and interviewed for all my residency positions and will know if I match on March 22nd. I apologize for the lack of posting, but the residency process is intense and I have had very little free time and motivation. I am exhausted, but doing really well. Bobby is the best trooper and puts up with me, the stress-ball that I am right now. It helps that he has another dog to dote on too now. She's getting HUGE! She's taller than Sophie already at 5 1/2 months old.
